Sporting Kansas City MLS Team Scouts Cosmos’ Games

Josh Duffy, Director of Talent Identification for MLS team Sporting Kansas City spent the weekend in Fresno scouting the players of a number of CenCal Cosmos teams.

Sporting KC were charter members of the MLS (originally named the Wizards) and have won the MLS Cup twice, the Supporter’s Shield and also the US Open Cup four times. Their Residential Development Academy is second to none and was named the 2018 Academy of the Year.

Director of Talent Identification, Josh Duffy, said, “I want to thank Kevin Botterill and Cencal Cosmos for having me visit and setting up a great weekend to showcase local players. It was enjoyable to see some of the Valley’s top-talents and I look forward to coming back again soon.”

Excitingly, a few players were identified as players to watch, with one player to be offered a trial in Kansas City in the near future. More to follow.

“Our whole goal at CenCal Cosmos is provide the training, tools and opportunities for players to reach their potential in soccer,” Said DOC Kevin Botterill, “With our Sac Republic relationship providing opportunities for our strongest players to train regularly with their DA (including one player joining full time already), and the beginning of this opportunity with Sporting Kansas City there is no better place to be if you have aspirations at the highest level.”
